Dear Carrot Creative,
To spite all the delicious cookies on your website, I have no desire for anything even remotely approaching a cookie-cutter creative role. In fact, the thing that speaks to me most about your posting for an Associate Creative Director – and your work ethic in general – is how social-savvy your approach is. I know I'd make a spectacular addition to your team, and here's why:
• I've got 9+ years experience in similar roles, with an emphasis in branding and digital design. I can talk IA and wireframes with your UX team, responsive builds with your devs, and social planning with your strategists.
• I know how crucial social strategy is to the success of a digital campaign. As an Interactive Art Director at Halogen (now SocialChorus), I worked directly with social strategists to create exceptional digital experiences for 3M, Mountain Dew, Intel, and PepsiCo. I shaped social media strategy, helped perform social audits, and worked closely with clients to define goals and objectives (see ScotchCNP and ScotchBlue Ribbon).
• I thrive on complex projects that require highly conceptual, multidisciplinary thinking; I’ve produced multi-tiered campaigns that intelligently integrate digital, print, and environmental components (see GAYMETH, and MIX 25).
• Storytelling is my strongsuit. I was a writer long before I ever started nitpicking pixels, and the TUI BIAN campaign gave me a chance to prove it. In addition to visual and content strategy, I wrote story lines for 3 graphic novella episodes. Each story was carefully crafted to reflect community research and client objectives. Also, they're aspirational and fun. Note: they're currently in Mandarin, but I'd be happy to walk you through the english translation.
I've spent the past 18 months working on the Tui Bian campaign. With that project wrapping up, I'm looking a role that privileges a sort of bare-knuckled, get-your-hands-dirty entrepreneurial drive. I work hard, crave collaboration, and I'm not a prima donna. I think I can do great work for your team and your clients.
I will follow up next week, and look forward to talking to you soon.
Best,
Sasha O’Malley
